At CAMILLA, alongside our project on our paper packaging, we have been focusing on our use of plastics and, in particular, the polyethylene bag. Within the fashion industry, it's the plastics that you don't see that hurt our earth the most.
In our quest to reduce plastic usage throughout the business, we identified the major plastic component to be the use of polybags that each of our products have to be wrapped in, and our online shipping packages. Starting this year, all our online shipping orders will be sent in a bag made from recycled materials, and all plastic bags used in the warehouse and in our Boutiques will be made with recycled materials.
We are working behind the scenes on diverting all polybags from landfill, with a soft plastics service in its early stages of implementation. Alongside this, for all plastics that wrap our goods we have a plan to reduce, and eventually phase out, all polyethylene that is not made from recycled materials or is recyclable.
Please ensure you recycle your polybags you receive in your orders into soft plastic recycling.
Whenever we wash clothes made with synthetics, little plastic fibres from our textiles travel from our washing machine into the wastewater, making their way to Mother Earth’s rivers, lakes and oceans. These particles break down further, and are ingested by our sea creatures, causing them harm.
We use POLLAST!CTM Mailers made by The Better Packaging Co. to send our swim and activwear treasures to you. These are crafted from 100% ocean bound plastic, protecting our beautiful oceans from pollution.

As print makers, storytellers, adventurers and artisans, our prints are at the heart of everything that we do and everything we hold true. Hand-drawn and painted by in-house artists, each limited-edition collection is then digitally printed.

Our need to protect Mother Earth was born with us on the sands of Bondi Beach. Our swimwear is lovingly crafted using Econyl®, a sustainable premium Italian textile, recycled from regenerated materials salvaged from our oceans. Silk
There are few fabrics that come even close to the feeling of silk on the body – it breathes, floats and feels like pure luxury. Just as importantly for us, our treasured silk also prints beautifully and is considered a more sustainable fibre. A renewable resource, it can biodegrade, and uses less water, chemicals, and energy than many other fibres. Best of all, when cared for correctly, silk can last for generations, proof that sustainable fashion is about longevity.
When it’s not silk we are using, we endeavour to make the most conscious effort to choose the fabrics that make the least environmental impact. Our Fabric Strategy has identified which fabrics are preferred, which we need to phase out and which we continue to re-source. We select our fabrics for quality, handle, drape, texture and ultimately, how they print.
